Despite rallying from two goals down to tie the game Tuesday, the Capitals came up empty-handed in terms of standings points. Washington lost 3-2 in regulation to the New York Islanders when John Tavares scored his 20th goal of the season late in the third period. The loss prevented the Caps from reaching the .500 mark, and also dropped Washington seven points off the Southeast Division lead.

Here is your Capitals Minute for Wednesday. The Capitals are off today, and will return to practice Thursday at Kettler. Washington travels Friday to Buffalo, kicking off a three-game road trip against the Sabres at First Niagara Center Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
