Ward ties up Game 5 at 1-1 in the 2nd period

May 10, 2013

There will be at least one more game in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup between the Capitals and Rangers. Game 6 will be played Sunday at Madison Square Garden. The winner of tonight's Game 5 will have a chance to advance to the next round on Sunday in Manhattan, and Washington is hoping to continue its winning ways on home ice to be that team.

The Caps have won four straight home games at Verizon Center dating back to last season to tie a franchise record. In tonight's Game 5, the Rangers would strike first in the game's first minute on a goal from Brian Boyle. Washington couldn't find an answer before intermission, and trailed 1-0 after one.

But in the second period, Joel Ward hits on the power play. Time of the goal 7:44. Listen to the goal here, as the Caps and Rangers are all tied at 1-1 in Game 5.
