While it's never fun to see summer slip away over the horizon, the day after Labor Day means we're that much closer to dropping the puck on the 2013-14 season. As we gear up here at Kettler, here are a couple of broadcasting notes regarding preseason activities:

First, we're just six days away from throwing headsets on and calling live hockey around here. I'll be on the call for the annual Rookie Game next Monday afternoon when the Caps take on the Philadelphia Flyers here at Kettler. Mike Vogel joins me for color commentary in the 3:00 p.m. puck drop in Arlington. While the game won't be on traditional online audio outlets and the Capitals Radio Network, you can see the game live via from start to finish. Rookie camp begins this Wednesday afternoon at Kettler, with practices daily leading up to Monday's 3:00 p.m. scrimmage. See the full Rookie Camp sked here at for further intel.

Following the end of Rookie Camp, it will be time for the full roster to report to KCI. That means the start of the preseason schedule, and Washington will be starting earlier than most in that department. Our first preseason broadcast will be one week from Saturday on September 14, as the Caps take on the Winnipeg Jets in Belleville, Ontario. Puck drop in Ontario next Saturday will be 7:00 p.m. All preseason games can be heard several ways, including, WFED-AM's online feed, and on your phone, iPad, or other mobile device via the Caps Mobile App by clicking the "Live Radio" button.
