A look back at Steve Oleksy's NHL debut Wednesday night against the Bruins

March 6, 2013

Somewhat lost in the shuffle after Washington's come-from-behind 4-3 overtime thriller over Boston was the NHL debut of Steve Oleksy. Signed and recalled from AHL Hershey Tuesday night, Oleksy skated 10:05 in his first NHL game, and picked up his first point along the way. The secondary helper came in the 2nd period on Mike Ribeiro's goal to get the Caps on the board, as Oleksy fed the puck to Alex Ovechkin. Not a bad way to get on the board for the first time.

Thanks to Ben Raby for putting this little montage together. You'll hear Steve talking to the media pregame, the radio calls, his interview with Al Koken at intermission following his first NHL point and more. Most of us will remember what Eric Fehr did Tuesday night, spearheading a thrilling comeback. For Steve Oleksy, the memories will focus on something entirely different.
