Facing a big challenge in taking on the defending Stanley Cup champions Tuesday night, the Capitals rallied from three different one goal deficits to finally take a third period lead. Mikhail Grabovski led the charge with three goals and one assist, but Chicago would rally late. Johnny Oduya scored the game-winning goal at 13:53 of the third period as the Hawks slipped by Washington 6-4 in the first game of the new season for both teams.
