February 22, 2013
CRN LogoGoals from Mathieu Perreault and Mike Ribeiro in the second period Thursday gave Washington a 2-1 lead into the third period, but New Jersey would rally late and defeat the Capitals 3-2 at Verizon Center. Ilya Kovalchuk, who scored the game-winning goal in overtime on January 25 in Newark, scored what proved to be another game-winning strike on Thursday. Kovalchuk's goal came on the power play at the 11:40 mark in the third Thursday, after the Caps committed five minor penalties in the final 20 minutes. With the loss, Washington is now 5-10-1 on the season.

The Caps will look for a measure of revenge Saturday, as the Devils return to Verizon Center ice. Puck drop is 12 noon. In the meantime, here is your Capitals Minute for Friday, February 22.
